BOOK: The Adventure Of Prophecy - By Trevor Maddison

I wrote this book in response to a leading of the Holy Spirit whose instruction to me was... Now you are age 65, and in your fifth decade of walking out this life with my Spirit, tell my children about the fun and adventure you’ve had.

The purpose of this book is to make more Christians aware of what a life with prophecy can be like. And secondly it is a tool for evangelism so people who are not yet Christians can understand what the good news really is, and what kind of life we can have as believers in Jesus.

The main thrust of the book is to show the way hearing God prophetically can impact us - In wisdom and knowledge; in intimacy with God; in purpose and direction; in comfort. And it demonstrates how this can give us a truly rich spiritual life, which is an adventure.

I think it was a remarkable lady named Helen Keller that said - Life is either a daring adventure or it is nothing. She was an adventurous soul for sure, despite her disabilities.

Here is the official synopsis of the book.

SYNOPSIS

Prophecy is the gift of all gifts. That is – the spiritual gift of all spiritual gifts. That is why scripture encourages every Christian believer to covet it for themselves.

The author describes himself as a prophetic evangelist, in terms of ministry, though much of this book is simply about living a quality life with God through prophecy as a key part of it. Beyond that it is also about using this gift to bless others, and about taking it onto the streets as a means of evangelism.

When it comes to gifts of God, they are often passed on through those who already have them, and enjoy them. This is true from the first step of receiving the gospel and being born again to much of the journey that follows.

Here the author draws on nearly five decades of experience to show you an example of how a prophetic life can look for those that embrace it.

The book is therefore largely autobiographical, though not exhaustively. The experiences shared are carefully chosen as the cream off the top, so that through it the lessons that were learned can also be passed on to you, along with the gift of prophecy itself.
